Rethinking Miss America

Ok, so since my last post I've been thinking about these photos & I still LOVE them, I think they look Amazing! BUT I don't know that they are right for a Miss America pagent...This type of photo should be for someone special (unless you are an underware model), for only one other persons eyes. So if you are in a committed relationship and wanna surprise your partner this is the way to go.....to represent America maybe not.

I am very excited! Tonight I will be going to hear Sandy Puc speak about her business, tips, & everything photo. I went last year and was completely motivated and inspired and I have been waiting for this talk since the last one!! My little boy is growing up! the big 0-6! I can't believe it, 6 is sooo not a baby anymore. Kinda sad just a little, but looking forward to all the stuff we can do now that he's older, and we don't need to pack a diaper bag or snacks!

My kids are really why I started taking pictures, they really aren't little for long and the older they get the harder it gets to really remember those times (or at least it does for me, weird how I can remember what the kids got for Christmas last year & from who, but can't remember the plot from a movie I watched last week) So my advice to everyone-TAKE PICTURES OF YOUR LOVED ONES!!! I recently found a photo of my grandfather who died before I was even a thought, and its such a cool photo to have of him and to have for my mom to remember him by. The kids love looking at photos of themselves when they were younger, and its always a test to see who can pick everyone out in group photos. Studies have even shown that looking at photos of people you love can make you feel happier and having photos up around the house can increase kids self-esteem.

Project 365

What is the 365 Project? The 365 project aims to collect photos documenting 1 year of your life. I think this will fun to see what gets captured that may normally not be photo worthy. I will be posting a weeks worth at a time so you all can see how my week has been. You don't have to be a "photographer" to join, and I think it would be awesome to do if you have just had a child or are preggers. They keep everything nicely organized for you. So lets see how this project goes....I will keep you posted and hope that I can keep up with it!!

What do you want to do before you die?

I don't know how many of you have heard of/ seen this new show on Mtv called the "buried life" I love it. Well, I don't know if its the show I love or the idea. Basically 4 guys have a list of things they would like to accomplish in life and they go around the country marking them off. The extra twist is every time they accomplish one of their goals, they help a stranger accomplish something. I love it. Not only does it say "go after your dreams" or "don't let anybody tell you you can't do something" but it also has a "pay it forward" feel. I have my own list of things I want to do: Ice skate at Rockefeller Center during the holidays, with the tree in the background; see the Macy's day parade in person; go to Hawaii and watch baby turtles hatch and scoot to the ocean, go on an African safari, those are the biggest ones, but as I come up with more I will be sure to tell you about them. So what are the items on your bucket list? Let me know, if there is anything I can do to help you cross one off the list I would love to! (and I'm totally intrigued with knowing what other people's dreams are!)

Yesterday

I am definitely a Quotes person. I love a good quote and when I come along one that I love will share them here. So here is the one for today: "Now that it's all over, what did you really do yesterday that's worth mentioning?" After thinking about this, at first it was a little depressing...I didn't really do anything important, but the more I think about it maybe I did. All the little things I did with my kids or for my family, maybe not noteworthy but I think they still made a difference. I guess it's how you look at things, and it makes you appreciate the small things in your normal everyday life. It also is a good thing to think about when you start your day. You can make sure that you do, do something that means something to someone, something that matters or at least makes someone smile.

Indoor Portrait Sessions

It's WINTER, which means any photo shoots this session are indoor....There are so many good outdoor locations in the summer, but now its freezing, and I'm looking for ideas of good locations to shoot indoor sessions. Please let me know if you know of an awesome spot......there might just be something in it for you! Thanks everyone!

new adventure...

so I am now venturing into Boudior photography and I love it! but I am also very nervous about announcing that I'm doing this...I'm worried people will not see the reasons that I love it so I guess I will just tell you.
1) its a lot of fun, sort of a girls night out. Ladies, we all wear a million hats and play different roles and this one is just about you.
2) I want to show women how beautiful they really are. I hope that they will look at thier portraits and say "That's me? I look Good!" There are so many impossible standands that we try to live up to and I want to show them they are already there.
3) Confidence is Sexy! You don't need to-nor do I want you to-show all the goods to have a sexy picture. Sometimes showing less is better, I'm going for classy, not trashy.
4) To remind your man that even when things are Crazy-Busy and you just wanna wear your sweats and a ponytail, you're still HOT!

1st blog ever!

I'm kinda new to the whole blogging thing and I know kinda late to start one, but here it goes! Currently, I'm freezing!! I don't mind the snow and even tried to enjoy it by sledding with the kids, but it's not quite the same as it was when I was younger. How do kids stay out for so long with out getting cold? I am always ready for summer, especially this week (-15 degrees- how does that happen?)
